Reykjavík Sketcher
sharing the world around me one sketch at a time
Meet the artist
Sonia Nicolson-Guðrúnarson
As an Architect passionate about hand drawing, I naturally sketch and record my travels and surroundings. I relocated to Reykjavik from Scotland in 2016 and have been sharing my sketches ever since. My feed became an online sketchbook - a digital exhibition - and I started selling work and offering commissions.
The ‘Reykjavík Sketcher’ came about as I wandered around downtown Reykjavík, sketching the houses one evening while I waited for my husband, Ingimar, to finish work. Later, I posted my drawings on Instagram, and people started to comment and interact - sometimes letting me know who lived in a house I’d drawn.
