Meet the Architect Behind the Sketches

 
 
 

Sonia Nicolson is a British Chartered Architect, educator and creator based in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Her career has taken her from architecture into academia, and from Scotland to Japan, India and beyond. After studying architecture in the UK and Japan, Sonia qualified as a Chartered Architect before moving into architectural education, where she became a Senior Lecturer and Head of First Year Interior Architecture.

Along the way, her work, teaching and curiosity have taken her across Japan, India, Thailand, Nepal and Ecuador, before life eventually brought her to Iceland - where she followed her heart, built a family and began a new chapter of her career.

Today, Sonia draws on more than 15 years of professional and teaching experience to teach the drawing and visual communication skills architecture school often assumes students already know. Through her educational content, courses and digital guides, she helps the next generation of interior and architectural designers develop the confidence to communicate their ideas through hand drawing.
