Hallgrímskirkja is iconic in every season, but in winter it takes on a quiet, almost sculptural quality. The pale light softens the concrete, and the whole building feels calm, still, and monumental. I drew this piece after a winter walk through the city, taking in the way the snow changed the atmosphere around the church.

Hi, I’m Sonia - architect, educator, and the artist behind Reykjavík Sketcher. I hand-draw Iceland’s architecture and landscapes, blending traditional techniques with modern minimalism. My work is inspired by the place I call home, Reykjavík, and the creative journeys of the students and women I teach.
